A
controversy ensued over the display by the Butt-Holdsworth Memorial
Library staff of books from the American Library Association's list
of banned books.
During the Public
Forum of the October 25, 2022 City Council meeting Stephanie
Puccio read a portion from one of the "banned" children's
books. You can watch the video by clicking HERE. Be
prepared! The
text of the book Ms. Puccio reads might be explicit, graphic and
may be offensive to you.
At the end of
Ms. Puccio's talk the spectators clap. Immediately Judy Eychner,
the mayor, bangs the gavel and declares "There will
be no clapping!" in a loud voice.
Would you want your underage children to
have access to these books?
A simple solution
would be to make sure these books are in the
"adult" section of the library and that only adults can
check them out.

Again the library came under fire from outraged
citizens concerning the explicit children's books which are available
at the library. During council's comments, councilmember Brenda
Hughes compares the Bible, along with other books she found at
the library, with the explicit children's books, stating the
Bible contains pornography as well. Watch the video by clicking

We think Ms. Hughes is off topic with the
Bible/Children's books comparison. We think it is not a matter
of a book containing, or not containing, pornography/explicit
language, but if minors should have access to those books - even
the Bible if is deemed to explicit.
But. Watch the videos and you be the judge. |
